If you are a high-school in years 11-13 or a tertiary student, or know one who wishes to register for this programme then please register by September 6th.

The Blumine Island project is our pioneer programme where we have been working since 2002.

This programme is focused on returning the island to its original state, without introduced predators, and developing a sanctuary for native animal and plant species at risk.

The first two days on the island are spent learning about what needs to be done and how to do it, before the reigns are completely handed over to the students to collectively plan and execute everything for the rest of the week.

Key outcomes

  • Youth leadership through personal experience

  • Predator free status, leading to the reintroduction of Kiwi

  • Feedback planning and action – in a context of biodiversity

  • Evaluation and implementation of new ideas
