UNITED NATIONS

In 2005, the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD) was launched to enhance the role of education in promoting sustainable development. Its successes have brought about growing international recognition of ESD as an essential element of quality education and a key enabler for sustainable development.

Untouched World™ became the first fashion company in the world to be given permission by UNESCO to carry the UNDESD logo on its labelling in 2007, one of only a small number of organisations internationally accredited.

Global Action Programme

With the UNDESD coming to an end in 2015, the new follow up UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) was launched with the aim of building on the achievements of the UNDESD, and scaling up education and learning to accelerate progress towards sustainable development.

In May 2015, Untouched World™ was invited to Paris to assist in the setup of GAP.

The UNESCO GAP website identifies Untouched World™ as one of three global exemplars for empowering and mobilising youth, international recognition we hold in high regard. In this context we continue to build international partnerships aligned with GAP. Most recently this has included graduate Matt Shepherd chosen by the UN to address a gathering of exceptional young adult leaders in Paris and an exchange with the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of young leaders between India and New Zealand.
