Fashion Reimagined

In partnership with The school of fashion

otago polytechnic 9-13 Feb 2025

With a call for urgency, agency and action, this programme recognises the necessity for more ethical and sustainable fashion futures, where people and planet are not compromised by a desire for profit. Fashion Reimagined seeks to challenge and expand participants thinking on the critical issues faced within the industry. Through a bicultural approach, the programme aims to inspire leadership and empower students in becoming ambassadors of positive change.

The Fashion Reimagined programme will be held over 5 days on Kamau Taurua / Quarantine Island, in the Ōtepoti harbour near Koputai Port Chalmers. Students will learn from industry professionals, fashion educators and Untouched World Foundation Sustainable Leadership Facilitators to develop critical thinking on the ethics of the fashion industry, unpack problems and issues, and explore solutions and opportunities for change. Participants will be taught skills to develop confidence and resilience, to best prepare them for the realities of the fashion industry and the situations they may face. Participants will be empowered to stand true to their values and advocate for a more fair and sustainable fashion future. All the while, students will get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Kamau Taurua, and contribute to the regeneration project there.
